Interview about SOS- Save our Special World project

Students of the Intervention Class (Primary School of Kardamena Greece) interviewed teacher Lena Zisimou as a partner of project SOS-Save Our Special World for our student newspaper.

We can read the interview that is going to be publish on our student newspaper on June.

-Good morning!
-Good morning, girls!

-How do you feel about being a member of eTwinning?
-I feel happy and proud that this year we are part of eTwinning, because it is a community that gives both teachers and students the opportunity to collaborate beyond the borders of our country.

-Did you want to implement an eTwinning project in the past as well?
-Yes, we wanted to in the past too, because we believe that eTwinning is a program that gives children the opportunity to have learning experiences and develop their digital skills. I wanted my students to communicate with other students from other countries and generally see what this program is like.

-What are the benefits for your students?
-Through this program, students learn to collaborate, they learn how to use various applications, they learn to respect diversity, to gain self-confidence, and all of that. In general, I believe it only brings positive things.

-Do you like collaborating with teachers from other countries?
-Yes, we liked it. It was a very nice experience. Collaboration is a creative experience because we exchanged ideas, we also learned new things and how to apply them in our classroom. We gained a lot from it.

-Would you like to tell us about the theme of the project “SOS – Save Our Special World” that you are implementing?
-This year, the program we started is related to the environment, water conservation, air pollution, and what we can do to become more responsible citizens and protect nature, and all of that.

-What is your favorite activity from the project?
-My favorite activity was when we took recyclable materials and created something related to mathematics. Then we put it into an application and it started to move and speak. I liked it because I had never done something like that before.

-Did you face any difficulties in the project “SOS – Save Our Special World”?
-Yes, every new thing we do has some difficulties. The main challenge was time management, but with a good coordinator and the good coordination we had, we managed to organize everything and I think we are doing quite well.

-How do your students feel about the project “SOS – Save Our Special World”?
-They were very excited. Every day, every week they are waiting for the next activity to see what it will be. They liked it because we work in a different way and because we communicate with children from other countries.

-In the end, how did you find the experience of participating in an eTwinning program in practice?
-It was a positive experience for us and it confirmed that learning is dynamic and interesting when children actively participate, enjoy what they do, and when we go beyond the limits of the classroom.

-What are you thinking about next year? Will you take part in an eTwinning program again?
-Yes, we really want to take part again next year because it gave us a positive motivation and a very different experience. We would like to have that experience again, and I think you would too. Did you like it?

-Yes.

-Thank you.
-
