Climate Change Alarm Game-Water Games/ Gkaitatzi Olympia, Primary School of Kardamena

Image
As part of our program's activities, we had the opportunity to create games related to our project theme. Initially, since each country took on a specific topic, we collaborated with the other two classes of our school to design the "Climate Change Alarm Game" using the Wayground application (formerly Quizizz). https://wayground.com/join/quiz/698ad0181a41947fe07fc0c7/start?studentShare=true Our students were impressed by both the process and the result of their efforts. They had never imagined that they could create their own quizzes, just like the ones they love to play. Afterwards, we played the games prepared by the other participating countries. The students truly enjoyed practicing their knowledge and learning new things in such a fun and engaging way.

Safer Internet Day- Our Net Starfish Gkaitatzi Olympia, Primary School of Kardamena

Image
On the occasion of Safer Internet Day , the students of the intervention class created our "Net Starfish." After first preparing the sketch of the starfish, we colored it using ScrapColoring . At the same time, we wrote a four-line poem in Greek and then translated it into English. I am a starfish living in the sea, I love using the internet on my phone with glee, But I always remember to choose with whom I chat with there, Online I wander safely, with caution and care! This activity provided a cross-curricular approach to the themes of ocean protection and safe internet navigation. The students developed both their artistic skills and their written expression. Furthermore, they engaged in discussion, cooperated, and made collective decisions. Especially for students with learning difficulties, participating in writing a poem holds extra value as it fosters phonological awareness , an area where they often face challenges. We are proud of our "Net Starfish" a...

Water Experiments Workshop / GKAITATZI OLYMPIA, PRIMARY SCHOOL OF KARDAMENA

As part of the "SOS: Save our Special World" project, we engaged in another captivating cross-curricular activity. The students conducted and observed experiments tailored to their age and level. Two experiments were organized: the older students followed instructions and observed the water cycle , while the younger ones observed how clouds function . Experiment 1: THE WATER CIRCLE IN A JAR Equipment and supplies A glass jar Hot water (the hotter, the better) Ice cubes Plastic wrap (transparent film) The lid of the jar Instructions Step 1:   Fill the jar halfway with hot water, carefully seal the opening with plastic wrap, and then place the lid upside down on top with a few ice cubes. Step 2:   Watch closely as the hot water begins to evaporate. As the vapor rises and hits the cold lid, it will cool down and turn back into liquid water. You will see the plastic wrap become foggy first, then small droplets will form. Step 3:   Eventually, the droplets will g...

Solving Marine Problems/ GKAITATZI OLYMPIA, PRIMARY SCHOOL OF KARDAMENA, GREECE

The students of the intervention class employed an original approach to solving mathematical problems. After watching videos of underwater cleanups and litter collection by the "We Dive We Clean" team, the students solved math problems tailored to their age and level.  We dive We Clean (Paros) We dive we clean (Serifos) We dive we clean (Tolo) They worked using the Donguri method ; first, they created a visual representation of the data, which then led them to the solution. It was an enjoyable cross-curricular activity that helped students understand both the importance of protecting our seas and the mechanisms for solving mathematical problems.
